If you have a low credit score what can you do? You can take steps to repair your credit either on your own or with the assistance of a professional.
The first step is to get a copy of your credit report and identify eveyr possible discrepancy. If you find some errors you can contact the credit bureau in a written dispute along with supporting documents and if they are unable to verify the accuracy of the information within 30 days, it must be removed.
If your credit report is correct, and the problem is that you have too much debt and you are having difficulty making your payments, contact your creditors and try to make arrangements with them to make payments that you can afford. Keep them informed. Most of them would prefer that you pay something rather than not pay at all.
Any agreements that you make must be made in writing and you must keep copies so that you are prepared if any problems arise in the future.
Pay for your purchases with cash. Credit card use should be minimized so as to avoid further debt.
You will soon improve your credit score if you are able to consistently make your payments for the next few months or years. Remember, your payment history has the heaviest impact on your credit score.
