Houston Foreclosures and Lawmakers

by Mike on May 15, 2009

Lawmakers in Texas have recently passed a bill to assist families in Houston to avoid foreclosures. The bill allows homeowners to refinance their current mortgage with loans that are backed by the government. Some homeowners in Houston are currently taking advantage of this opportunity and preventing their property from becoming another casualty in Houstons long list of foreclosed properties.

It is a logical step for many homeowners, since the economy is so uncertain.

Our economy is suffering dramatically right now because of a multitude of reasons. Jobs are being lost and bills are mounting, which is making it difficult for many people to stay afloat.

There is a long list of foreclosed properties in Houston. Houston is located in the southeastern part of Texas. It is located at the head of the Houston Ship Channel, which links the city to the Gulf of Mexico. The inland seaports are where many of the chief financial, manufacturing and distribution centers are located for the United States. Houston is one of the largest cities in Texas and the fourth largest in the United States.
