There is a lot of reputable credit repair companies online you just have to make sure you use one of the good companies and not a bad one. The one I always recommend is Lexington Law.
However if you want do it yourself…
I teach my students to start by putting together a budget. Create a personal balance sheet by making a list of your monthly debts versus your monthly income. This will give you a birds-eye of your financial situation. This is your starting point.
Ok now it is time to get down to business! Get copies of your credit report or you can get them right from annualcreditreport.com. Then you will want to carefully review it line by line and highlight all of the negative things on it. Next you will want to prepare a letter of dispute and mail it back to the credit bureaus, along with any proof regarding your claims.
I have a secret that helps tremendously. Unfortunately I had to discovered it the hard way. When you are ready to mail your letters of dispute make sure that you send them by certified mail. If you do not do this one little step it could cost you dearly in the long run. This is the only proof that you will have to prove the time and date that you mailed your information.
If you are serious about self credit repair you will need four things.
1. You will need is knowledge. You must know how to do it.
2. You will need to be organized.
3. You will have to be persistence. You might have to fight them on somethings 3 or 4 times before they delet it.
4. You will need time. Your credit didn’t go bad overnight so don’t expect it to be repaired overnight.
Good Luck!
